TRANSFER & ROLLOVER REFERENCE

A gold IRA rollover deserves a closer look.

The useful details are often in the paperwork: the type of funding, the product being quoted, and the responsibilities each provider accepts.

01

Name the transaction accurately

“Rollover” is often used loosely. An IRA-to-IRA trustee transfer, a direct rollover from a workplace plan, and a distribution paid to you are different routes. Ask both institutions which route your documents request. The IRA one-rollover-per-year restriction generally concerns indirect IRA-to-IRA rollovers; direct transfers and plan-to-IRA rollovers are treated differently.

02

Separate administration from investment judgment

Equity Trust’s role as a custodian is to administer the account and process permitted directions. It does not turn a metal quote into a recommendation or guarantee an investment result. Evaluate the dealer’s pricing and the financial fit independently of the custodian’s role.

03

Read the quote as an itemized transaction

A headline spot price is not a complete offer. Ask for a dated quote that identifies each product, quantity, condition, and total price. Establish when the price becomes binding and how a change or cancellation would be handled.

  • Fine metal content and exact coin or bar version.
  • Dealer premium and total payment amount.
  • Payment deadline and any funds-clearance requirement.
  • Current resale bid and the costs to sell or ship back.
04

Trace the custody instructions

For an IRA purchase, confirm the receiving depository and the account identification before shipment. Delaware Depository is a storage option to discuss with Equity Trust. Ask who confirms receipt, where that confirmation appears, and how your holdings are shown on the account statement.

05

Look for unresolved assumptions

Do not let a quoted setup fee stand in for the full annual cost, or a current repurchase policy stand in for a guaranteed exit price. Ask what would happen if you needed cash sooner than expected. Keep copies of signed instructions, invoices, storage terms, and later sale records.
