THE ROLLOVER REFERENCE

Answers for your next step.

Practical answers for readers exploring rollover essentials.

01

Does the one-rollover-per-year rule cover every transfer?

No. The rule generally applies to indirect IRA-to-IRA rollovers, not trustee-to-trustee IRA transfers or plan-to-IRA rollovers. Account-specific details can matter; verify the planned route.

02

Does a custodian approve the investment’s value?

Custodial administration does not establish whether a price is fair or a purchase fits your goals. Obtain your own comparisons and independent advice.

03

What should a complete product quote show?

Exact item, metal content, quantity, condition or version, premium, total payment, payment deadline, and any shipping or other charges. Ask when the price becomes binding.

04

Does “buyback” mean I get my money back?

No. A future repurchase offer depends on the buyer’s terms and market price at that time. Ask for a current bid to understand the spread, without treating it as a future guarantee.

05

Does segregated storage guarantee a return?

No. It describes a physical storage arrangement, not an investment outcome. Storage or transit insurance does not protect against a decline in market value.

06

Is this site a financial adviser?

This site provides educational materials and a way to request information. It does not provide individualized financial, tax, or legal advice, and does not establish an advisory relationship.
