THE COST & CUSTODY REVIEW

Read the fee schedule. Examine the custody terms.

A strong comparison separates the dealer’s economics, the custodian’s charges, and the depository’s responsibilities.

01

Compare the bid with the ask

The purchase quote and resale bid are different prices. Ask for both for the same product and quantity, on the same date. That comparison makes the initial spread visible. Confirm whether return shipping, authentication, or liquidation fees would further reduce your proceeds.

02

Map each charge to its provider

Create a simple list: dealer premium, account establishment, ongoing administration, storage, shipping, and transaction or distribution fees. Ask Equity Trust for the schedule that applies to your account. Confirm whether any storage fee is billed through the custodian or separately.

03

Review the evidence of ownership

Understand how account records identify your holdings at Delaware Depository and how receipt is reported. Ask how differences between a statement and invoice are resolved, who can issue instructions, and what records are provided after a sale or distribution.

DELAWARE DEPOSITORY

Delaware Depository: the storage comparison.

Discuss the available Delaware Depository arrangement with Equity Trust. Confirm the facility, accepted products, and current terms for your account.

OPTION 01

Segregated storage

Metals are packaged, labeled, and held physically apart from other customers’ holdings. Ask how your particular items are identified and returned.

OPTION 02

Non-segregated storage

Holdings are allocated in the depository’s records and stored by product alongside other holdings. Confirm what equivalent products you receive on withdrawal.

Four details to confirm

  • Location. Specify the facility in the custody documents; do not infer it from the company name.
  • Reporting. IRA instructions and reporting are handled through the custodian.
  • Cost. Request the schedule that applies to your metals and selected service.
  • Insurance. Review coverage, exclusions, and claim procedures. Storage insurance does not cover investment losses.

Personal storage and IRA storage have different account arrangements. For IRA holdings, coordinate changes and distributions through the custodian.
